To be frank, my relationship with food has not been smooth sailing..

The problem (at least for me) was that I never built a solid foundation for how I consume food because my body was so forgiving. I never figured out a healthy eating style. Which foods would give my body the nourishment that it needed without tasting bland…

But now, my body was shutting down. Even going on diets and eating healthy — I was still getting sick!

I had tried all of the crash diets, keto, paleo, the zone diet, expensive meal replacement shakes…. The list goes on.

All just temporary patches on a much deeper-rooted issue: My gut flora was wrecked!

The doctor diagnosed me with IBS...

That’s why my research led me right to probiotics, countless studies have shown the benefits they can have on improving your gut health.

Probiotics help balance the good bacteria and bad bacteria in your digestive system, promoting a healthy digestive tract and immune system.

Our body normally has what we would call “good” (helpful bacteria) and “bad” (harmful bacteria). Maintaining the correct balance between these bacteria is necessary for optimal health.

Diet — alongside age and genetics — may influence the composition of the bacteria in the body (microbiota). An imbalance is called dysbiosis, and this has possible links to diseases of the intestinal tract, including ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), celiac disease, and Crohn's disease, as well as more systemic diseases such as obesity and type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

I can get more into the science, but the fact is — Probiotics are good!

The research around probiotics is everywhere, I’m sure you’ve already heard about them plenty. They’re important to have to maintain a well-balanced gut, especially in today’s age and diets.

So… why not just take a probiotic supplement? Well, I did try them…

I realized very quickly that supplements (especially probiotics) aren’t for me

Unfortunately, I had a terrible reaction to Probiotics when I took them! I knew all about the benefits, but I couldn’t get over the side-effects.

I was feeling even more dazed and bloated than before. It made me almost nauseous! Looking online I realized I’m not the only one. Taking a pill for your probiotics isn’t the answer…

I started researching other ways to get the benefits of probiotics and everyone was pointing to the same place — your diet (it wasn’t going to hurt me to go on a diet anyways).

The problem? There wasn’t too much information on a probiotic-rich diet. All I could find (in short) was: “Yogurt is good, Burgers are bad”.

There were no good recipes for this! I turned to the fad diets and tried those instead: Keto, Paleo, Mediterranean, etc… I GAINED WEIGHT.

I ran into the exact same health issues I was having before. I needed the benefits of probiotics in my diet to repair my gut first before these diets were going to help me with anything.

So I started this journey on making probiotic-rich delicious foods for all meals of the day (and in between), which has led me to this book today: The Gut Revival

Once I discovered how easy it was to incorporate probiotic-rich foods in my diet, my relationship with food started to shift back. I decided to create DELICIOUS and healthy recipes that mended my gut instead of hurting it.
